Law firm e-marketing stats

Primary Research Group has published a Survey of [US] Law Firm E-marketing Practices ($295). The following is from Larry Bodine’s helpful summary.

Data in the report is based on a survey of 46 (mostly major) law firms. I’m guessing there must be some 100,000 US law firms, so this is a tiny sample and cannot be seen as representative, even of the larger firms. But here are the stats:

  • 20% publish blogs.
  • More than 50% hired a consulting firm to overhaul (or initially create) their firm’s website; 12% did most of the website design in-house.
  • 60% publish e-newsletters; 90% of those with 200 lawyers or more.
  • 12.5% use search engine advertising.
  • 32% are likely to use SEO consultancy services in the next two years.
  • Less than 3% have done a podcast.
